Riff Duplication

Post by oddaustin »

Hey everybody,

I'm rather new to this forum, I've known of it for a while but I just recently signed up for an account. I've been a long time fan of the Al and I have hard copies of every studio album as well as four DVDs and one single.

I don't know if this particular issue has been mentioned before but I found it interesting. Has anybody noticed that the main riff in "Fat" is pretty much the exact same as the main riff in "Hardware Store"?

Eh, it's less of a real riff and more of a scale.

Very odd one though. The exact notes in the Hardware Store riff are A#, C#, D#, E, and F.

Hmm, that is kinda peculiar! Al must be copying from Michael Jackson!

Ha, nah... I bet it's just one of those funny examples of riffs popping up all over the play, like "Dani California" and "Last Dance for Mary Jane." etc...
