I always thought the ballads were written when he was single (or in the case of OMM, just after being dumped), so he probably hasn't written any real recent ballads because hes happilly married and would rather do jumpy, chirpy songs.
Or maybe Im over-analysing and he just DIDN'T WANNA!

I was thinking the same thing, myself. Unless he wants to do a twisted marriage ballad. Then it'd be fine.Scarlatti @ Jan 21 2008, 10:50 PM wrote: I always thought the ballads were written when he was single (or in the case of OMM, just after being dumped), so he probably hasn't written any real recent ballads because hes happilly married and would rather do jumpy, chirpy songs.

Actually there's been a little trickle of un-twisted but still funny marriage-related material creeping into his songs. TITDT, certainly, where he takes the mickey out of the infidelity opera by applying the same over-emoting to the subject of hamburgers, but also "Trash Day" with its little bicker over who's gonna be the chief mop wrangler in the household. But I think SOL proved that Al doesn't have to be currently living the material to be able to produce some extremely twisted love songs. I don't see those drying up.HappyGilmore @ Jan 22 2008, 01:01 AM wrote: I was thinking the same thing, myself. Unless he wants to do a twisted marriage ballad. Then it'd be fine.
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

True. I love TITDT though, so that's always fun.Orthography Enthusiast @ Jan 22 2008, 03:57 AM wrote: Actually there's been a little trickle of un-twisted but still funny marriage-related material creeping into his songs. Now I may be dead but I still love you
My brothers and sisters all hated me because I was an only child

Hey, "Do I Creep You Out" could fit in that list. "Christmas At Ground Zero" makes no sense on there...
