DDTS is definitely a ballad, though most people usually think only of love songs when they think of ballads.
Christmas at Ground Zero is as much a ballad as Jingle Bell Rock is.

Re: More Ballads! More Ballads! More Ballads!
I usually think of a ballad as a soft song with a pretty-but-sad melody on an acoustic guitar. Just sayin'.
Because of this, You Don't Love Me Anymore is the only song I really consider to be much of a ballad, though DDTS is pretty close. OMM is more just a love song, and Good Enough For Now is country.
Why was I just about to think A Complicated Song was a ballad?

No, Jeremy's right. A ballad doesn't have to be a love song. DDTS definitely is one.

A ballad is a form of verse, often a narrative and set to music. So by the definition Albuquerque is a ballad.
