Now that we have the 12th (and possibly last?) polka, a new ranking is in order:

1. The Alternative Polka - This and the one below have to win out because for me the polkas work best when he uses darker, more angst-filled songs
2. Angry White Boy Polka
3. Now That's What I Call Polka! - Smoothest transitions and best use of sound effects ever in a polka
4. Polka Your Eyes Out - Still holds a high position for me because I grew up with this music
5. Polka Face - I really like the way he started and ended the polka with the same song
6. Bohemian Polka - One of a kind - I love the use of a single song for a polka
7. The Hot Rocks Polka - I would have liked to see more single-artist polkas, but the fact that this is the only one makes it that much more special
8. Polkarama! - Great song choices here
9. Polka Power! - Wonderfully captured the late 90s music scene, except for some glaring omissions (boy bands and pop princesses)
10. Polka Party! - Nothing much to say about this one, but I loved the Papa Don't Preach part
11. Polkas on 45 - Set the standard, but after so many others, it doesn't stand out that much
12. Hooked on Polkas - Same as above

You know, I'm listening to "Polka Party!" (the song) right now and to me, it sounds just as vibrant and exciting as the new polka, or any other one. I would have a seriously hard time trying to rank them in any order. Even the later polkas, which have a lot of songs I'm not familiar with, are all wonderful once I listen enough. I'm not a Rolling Stones fan at all, but I might even nominate "The Hot Rocks Polka" for my top 3, just because I love how it's put together.

"The Alternative Polka" is ultimately the winner as far as matching my personal tastes with the original music.

Certainly recency-bias has something to do with my rankings of the last three, I admit that. But my top five are a cut above the rest, IMO. And the top two, especially, for the reason I gave above.

Didn't the polka have Everybody (Backstreet's Back)? Doesn't that cover the late 90s boy bands?
