No...

but I would have!

If I wasn't still in kindergarten.

Oh, and knowing about Al would have helped, too.

I was also a child in the 80's, and did not really know who Al was then. My earliest memory of Al was seeing the Fat video on TV when I was about 7 years old. I didn't become a fan until 1993, and my first concert was actually 8 years ago today (August 14). *sniffle* Ah, the memories...

I saw the guys when they opened for The Monkees in '87. I was going as a Monkees fan, but was pleasantly surprised when the newspaper mentioned that Al was the opening act (I believe my reaction was, "Oh look. That guy!"). I liked Al then, but only in passing....I wasn't a "fan" by definition yet.

I didn't know too many of Al's song at that point, just pretty much whatever was made into a video (I believe we rented "The Compleat Al" a day or two before just so I would know some of them for the concert). I remember being a little disappointed that only about a third of "Eat It" was performed in the medley.

But otherwise, I remember thinking it was a great set and I had a greater respect for Al as a performer. It only took me another six years to become a die-hard fan. :)
