ranking songs on albums?

Post by Jebediah »

How would you rank all of the songs on each album? I'd like to see your album rankings. I'll do a few to get us started.

Polka Party

Don't Wear Those Shoes

Dog Eat Dog

Living With a Hernia

Good Enough For Now

Addicted to Spuds

Polka Party!

One of Those Days

Christmas at Ground Zero

Here's Johnny

Toothless People

Even Worse

(This Song's Just) Six Words Long

I Think I'm a Clone Now

Fat

Stuck in a Closet With Vanna White

Alimony

You Make Me

Lasagna

Twister

Velvet Elvis

Melanie

Good Old Days

Dare to Be Stupid

Yoda

Like a Surgeon

This is the Life

Dare to Be Stupid

One More Minute

Hooked on Polkas

Cable TV

Slime Creatures From Outer Space

I Want a New Duck

Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch

George of the Jungle (since when does Al do covers?)

Alapalooza

Frank's 2000-Inch TV

Livin' in the Fridge

Jurassic Park

Talk Soup

Achy Breaky Song

Bohemian Polka

Young, Dumb & Ugly

Bedrock Anthem

Waffle King

She Never Told Me She Was a Mime

Traffic Jam

Harvey the Wonder Hamster

Hmm... that was harder than I thought it would be. Songs I really like are towards the bottom just because I couldn't find another place for them. And it's hard to rank the polkas with the other songs because I like the polkas in a different way than the ones written by Al. Anyone else wanna give this a shot?

Well, as a group, we were doing a RWS survivor topic... whatever happened to that? We were voting the songs off the island.

I suppose we could do that for every album. It will take us forever to get through the whole WAY library.

I started it again... here.

This would be tough to do. Where Al's songs and even albums rank depend a lot on my mood.

I remember doing this a long time ago...Now a lot of times it depends on my moods. I'm gonna have to think on this.

That was another thing I considered for this list. My lists would change with my mood as well. But I don't think the changes would be that major. My rankings are a general feel for where the songs stand in my mind. Two might get switched now and then, or one song might drop / raise a few slots, but you get the gist of it.

But you are a few peas short of a casserole... how about the other Albums?

I have always found it easier to rank my least favorites, because they are fewer. And because of the way Al's music tends to grow on me, they get fewer all the time.

Phony Calls will always be at the bottom of my list. Unless Al works really hard to replace it. I had thought Trash Day might be a contender, but I have to say I really like it now. It is one song that knowing what was going on in the original improved my liking for the Twisted Version. When I first heard it, I thought "I think them rats gettin' big" was soooo lame. But when I found out why it was there, it cracks me up now.I'm with OE on this one. I think the icky-ness of the original is what made Al think of it like he did. He must have thought "how can I possible make this worse than that trashy Hot In Herre... hey, wait! I've got it!" And as usual, it's brilliant.

Oh, except for one thing, and perhaps this should be on the Review topic or the Overanalyze topic, but I'm here so... I don't get the "another girl is gaggin'" line. It is the only parody line I can think of in Al's whole career where the line just kind of clunks. What girl? Where'd she come from? Where'd she go? How does it fit in the song?? But I guess one clunker in an almost 25 year career isn't too bad. Still, it's so un-Al-like to let a line just go flat like that.

Heh. I just looked at the lyrics. Al didn't blow it. I did. I guess it should be filed under misheard lyrics... Forget I ever brought it up. Oy. But I do get points for knowing it was un-Al-like, don't I?

Um....

Yeah, that's misheard.

I was looking for 15 minutes and I'm thinking, "what "another girl is gagging?" is she talking about TD?"

That's because the real line is " n' now that girl is gaggin'" but it sounds like another girl is gaggin...

Oh, never mind. I just feel better knowing that Al didn't write the dumb line that I heard, just because it fit even if it didn't make sense.

You get 10 points for that, with a deduction of 5 for blowing it.

I'm going to do 3 albums. Maybe I'll do some more some other time. But I'm still missing a few, so I won't be able to do them all.
