Before the great "Listen to the soundtrack, you uncultured neanderthals" WOWAY wars of 2018 break out, I'd just like to say I probably will eventually, just I always have a hard time listening to a soundtrack closely tied to the visuals without seeing it and knowing what's happening.
You have quickly thought up such matchless phrase?

I'm in the "I vaguely know there's a Hamilton musical out there" camp as well. I can relate to this song pretty much to the same level I relate to Polkamon, which is...barely. To the point where I am debating myself whether I am willing to spend $1.29 to keep this on my iPod.

So how does one familiarize themselves with the source material without spending $400 on a Broadway ticket show? I've seen some people talking about a soundtrack?

I also have not seen Hamilton. I’ve heard some of the music, but it’s been out of context, so I haven’t really necessarily gotten the full enjoyment out of it. Having said that, I did enjoy the polka. It sounds amazing. I will be seeing Hamilton in July, so I’m sure I’ll have a better appreciation for the polka at that point.

Genius. I wouldn't say this is Al's best polka, but it's still amazing. I'm amazed at just how many songs Al packed in there! I wouldn't say I'm *surprised* per se, but it's still so epic.

The way he transitioned from The Schuyler Sisters to The World Turned Upside Down was fantastic.
I don't know if I can pick a favorite section of the polka, especially so soon, but we'll see down the road if that changes.

Now that you mention this, I guess that the "And you'll blow us all away" line comes from Dear Theodosia, not Blow Us All Away. In fact, that line (with "and you'll") isn't even in Blow Us All Away at all.

I learned to love “Polkamon” despite not knowing a Pidgey from a Pikachu and I think the same with this one. My first listen I was totally lost and figured it must be funnier if you know the source. I’m sure that’s still true but after several more listens it holds up on its own quite well. It’s got all the signature spots we’ve come to love in a Polka and IT’S A NEW POLKA SINGLE! Al has basically has said he makes no money on polkas do I never expected to see another one in this new time of no albums. The song tells a story and I paid attention in third grade history class so I able to follow along. The more I listen the more subtle stuff I pick up and I really enjoy it. Not sure if this is an Al embellishment or it’s on the original song but the “I wrote that” is my favorite part.

I don't know much about Hamilton, the musical. I did listen to the 'leaked' tracklist, but I think I would have enjoyed the polka just as much either way. I mean, it's about a historical figure so most Americans already have context. I like to take the polkas as they are - the same as listening to any other song for the first time. I don't need to know the original songs to enjoy the polka. I don't need to know the songs he's parody-ing to enjoy the parody, etc. I almost wish I hadn't listened to the original Hamilton tracks first, because I was already building expectations in my mind. I think expectations end up preventing joy for some people. Like the "new song", tour, etc. isn't what some people were hoping for, and they seem to be disappointed. It was super obvious with The Last Jedi - hardcore fans were so emotional about it - it never could have lived up to most of their expectations.

I like The Hamilton Polka more each time I listen to it.
