Al on Bob and Tom

Post by algonacchick »

Yes, our Al was on the Bob & Tom show this morning!

First, they talked about Al's LASIK surgery. After Al got done

talking about it, he asked if anyone on the show had gotten LASIK.

Chick *sports guy, and funny person*, said, in a Ted Knight kind of

voice: "Hi, Al, this is Chick McGee speaking" then he went on to say

he'd had LASIK and thought it was great. Then they talked about the

Poodle Hat cover. Then either Bob or Tom *don't know which* said his

favorite cd cover was the OTDE cover. Then yes, they did mention how

Al is usually seen wearing Vans, and Al talked about how he gets his

free because he's a walking endorsement for Vans. Christi called

them "Spicoli shoes", a reference to "Fast Times at Ridgemont High".

And then again, either Bob or Tom mentioned he used to wear them, and

how you can't find the classic ones so easily, and he asked Al if he

ever got his classic Vans on ebay, and that started the whole ebay

discussion. They asked if Al was inspired to write the ebay song

because of looking for Vans there, but Al said no. *I think Al also

eluded to the fact he didn't search on ebay for his Vans* Al did say

he was an ebayer, and that his wife was into it. :) They talked about

Bela, and they said how

cute she was, and they all started talking in that cutesy voice dog

owners use when they talk to their dog. "Cute little puppy", etc.

*Chick is famous for talking like that, and I was waiting for his

standard "she's a sweetie" in that goofy voice. He didn't say that,

but they all did say stuff like "good dog", etc. Cute! Then, they

talked about the whole Eminem thing. I also liked

what Al called Prince. hehe! *TAFKATAFKAP* They played a clip

from "Ode to a Superhero" and they were commenting as it played, and

saying how much it sounded like the original. They seemed to like it.

I heard laughing. :) Then Al talked about "It's Still Billy Joel to

Me" and how Billy had heard that song on the Dr. Demento show once

and wasn't real thrilled about it. Al said he was glad Billy gave

permission for "Ode to a Superhero", and said something like "We

finally buried the hatchet." :) hehe, he also something like "Maybe

he was still feeling the effects of that car accident when he gave

permission." *For OTASH* lol! Then they played a snippet of "Couch

Potato". It was a pretty good interview, I thought.

Any interview that doesn't start with "where do you get your ideas" and "so, what's the deal with Coolio" (we may have to update that with the latest humorless rapper's name) is a good interview.

Well, actually, they did mention the Coolio thing, but only after Al talked about the only person to consistently turn him down being TAFKATAFKAP! lol! So, it was ok, because of the way the questions were going. But no, they didn't start with that. Whew! I'm fairly sure Bob & Tom are fans. They did know about the OTDE cover, and mentioned how it was tastefully shot so that nothing that shouldn't be seen was. hehe! *As I mentioned in the first post, it was one of their favorite cd covers.*

I assume this was a phone interview- I live just north of Indy and was not aware of this so of course I missed it. Bob and Tom are on a classic rock station which I do not listen to that much.

Glad they liked the album! He gets virtually no airplay here in Indy- just a few songs every so often on the 80's station.

I forgot to mention- Bob and Tom are based out of Indy on Q-95. IN 8th grade I got to job shadow them! They are really nice guys who make a ton of money in what they do. I guess my visit would have been on 1986 or 1987. I wish Q-95 would play the Dr. Demento show! I think they used to.

Strange, there's a local Bob and Tom show here in Connecticut...

As far as I know Bob and Tom is a syndicated radio program meaning it could be played in several markets around the country. They originate from Q-95 in Indianapolis, IN. They have been a team here in Indy for a very long time.

I'm pretty sure the bob and tom here are just two of the deejays at our 94.1 station. I haven't looked into it though, it could be them...

Yes, it was a phone interview. Bob & Tom seemed to like Al, and knew a few things, so I think they're fans. It was nice to hear someone being nice to Al after what I heard about the Kilborn show.

well anyone who is nicer (unlike a certain person who said a certain thing about some tea) I'm glad to hear the interview went well!
