1990 Missed Parodies
1990 marked the first year since 1981 where a Billboard Hot 100 number one song did not find its way onto a Weird Al album. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_B ... es_of_1990 What song(s), if any, do you think Al missed out on to make a great parody?

How Am I Supposed to Live Without Food
Food Will Leave You Back
Nothing Compares 2 Food (rejected by Prince)
Food (parody of "Vogue" by Madonna)
I'm Your Gravy Tonight

Re: 1990 Missed Parodies
Assuming Prince would have vetoed a Nothing Compares 2 U parody, the obvious choice is Ice Ice Baby.
I think we got really, really lucky on the timing of UHF, etc which ended up delaying the album until there was a more viable lead single. Without Smells Like Nirvana, I really doubt Al would have continued to be successful into the 90s and beyond.

Check that list again: technically, a #1 song from 1990 did make it onto an ALbum: "Ice Ice Baby" (#1 on 11/3/90), anyone?
But if we're talking missed parody potential:
Another Day In Miami Vice (a timely sendoff to the series, ending in 1989, that used "In The Air Tonight" in its first episode, and that I've never seen even once, so thanks Wikipedia)
Escalade (well, it's more exciting than a song about Medicaid)
Blades of Glory (pre-empting the movie by 17 years, and also it's about shaving)
(Can't Drive Without Your) Map and Directions
I Don't Have The Part (the tale of an actor's woes)

All those songs suck. Even the ones I kind of like suck.
The only ones that would have some viable potential to be buried in the 7th album spot is Step By Step or Vogue.

Have to agree. Quality-wise, the best song on there is probably Nothing Compares 2 U, which pains me to admit.Mystik Tomato wrote:All those songs suck. Even the ones I kind of like suck..
