Original Album Vinyl Inserts

Post by QuantumError »

I'm under the impression that when Al's older albums were originally pressed (from debut album to Even Worse or UHF), that they came with inserts or booklets of sorts that had lyrics and/or pictures on them. I have seen a couple random pictures floating around online that I am pretty sure were meant to go along with one or another albums inserts.

I'm just really curious about if these really exist, if anyone has them, and/or if there is anywhere I can see pictures or scans of them. I found a good deal on the first three albums on vinyl, but they are still in their shrinkwrap and I'd hate to open them for nothing.

They do, but I don't think the debut album does; mine was blank. I don't know about In 3D, but DTBS, Polka Party! and Even Worse definitely have detailed inserts.

Since Alpocalypse also had one, I'm assuming Mandatory Fun will, as well.

I actually have versions of Polka Party and Even Worse on CD that have full inserts!! I guess they're from the initial pressings? Anyways, next time I'm home I'll post some pics of them on this thread if you guys want!

http://www.discogs.com/artist/259422-qu ... t-Yankovic" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is a very good resource. Click each album title, find the LP release, and then click the thumbnail of the album cover and it should have "more images". For example, here is all of Dare to Be Stupid.

It's not complete, because I'm certain the vynil of the first album has a reversed live action version of the cover.

According to that site, Off The Deep End was printed in vinyl? I had never heard that before.
I have all of the LPs except UHF.

Yes on the back Al is on stage with a thought bubble of him sitting in bed with his accordion

Yes, it was released in the UK under Polydor Ltd, catalog number 512 506-4. However, "UHF" was the last LP released in the US, until "Alpocalypse".

Wasn't there a "Selections from Straight Outta Lynwood" LP with a few parodies on it? Not sure if that counts or not.

It was just three tracks, not a full LP.
