I'm just not a "fan". I've listened to Weird Al before.

Then why not convert to fanism? ;)

I guess it's like if you're gay or straight. It's really not up to you.

For me, I remember hearing "I Love Rocky Road" when I was 6 or 7, but didn't really become a fan until "Fat."

For me it was Jurassic Park I believe. There was a kids/novelty radio hour on the local college station that used to be kind of like Dr Demento lite, and they played a bunch of Al songs which caused me to eventually get Greatest Hits II a few months before Bad Hair Day came out.
The songs they played on there most frequently that got me into Al were Jurassic Park and Achy Breaky Song.
Same here, actually.

We have a kids show/novelty thing that plays comedy songs, etc., and Al is one of the artists they play, alongside They Might Be Giants, Barnes and Barnes, etc. For me it was "Jurassic Park" and "Bedrock Anthem."

I've been hooked since.

Where are you from, Happy Gilmore? Mine was called Kids Korner on 88.5 WXPN in Philadelphia. No idea if that show is still on, but I used to call in all the time and win prizes.
