It's actually bust line aka boobs. Bet you didn't think Al would write a song about that either!Yankomaniac wrote:Used to sing "Tell me, tell me, tell me, how to make my kush light grow!" But obviously I knew Al would not write a lyric about growing weed. I still sing it that way though. Anybody know the actual line?

Re: Misheard Lyrics
I always thought they were singing "tell me how to make my frostbite grow", which obviously doesn't make an ounce of sense. Maybe a few grams of sense, but nowhere close to a full ounce.
But I actually came here with regards to "Buckingham Blues". Specifically, at the beginning of the song, when Al sings "Chuckie wants to grow up and be a polo star", I always thought he was singing "Chuckie wants to grow up and be a porno star," which would certainly be an interesting career choice for royalty.

I've just found out that in "Inactive" he's sipping coke from a solo cup, not soda cup. Soda cup didn't make much sense, but neither did a solo cup as I've never heard of it before (but now I've googled it, so no explanations needed).

I really like Inactive because it speaks to me on many levelsmrmeadows wrote:According to the lyrics in the MF booklet, the line is: "I could break my rib cage, here at my age."algonacchick wrote: I thought it was "I could break my rib cage, here is my age", so what I was hearing is a combo of what you were hearing.
Apparently, it's "I could read my rib cage, here is my age", so your second choice is correct.
I keep hearing "read my rib cage", but I think it's because shortly after MF leaked someone transcribed the lyrics here and wrote it as "read." So now that's all I can hear, even though I know it's wrong.
If Al would ever recall an album to fix a mistake, I think it should be MF so he can fix the distortion effects on "Inactive." They just muddy up the lyrics way too much, especially at the end. The line "My energy is shot" just sounds completely garbled. Until I read the real lyrics, it always sounded like he was saying "My inner child is shot", which makes no sense.

For me, I thought the line was "I can read my rib cage, here is my age"(like a tree) which I thought was odd, since it sounded like throughout the song the character was overweight. I'm pretty sure you can't see the rib cage of a larger person...
I just found before reading the lyrics the song was hard to hear, anyway. (Especially live when you've never heard it before/had time to try and decipher it) I don't really think it's the background noise (literally) that make's it hard to hear. I think it's the echo that's added onto the speaking parts. Most of the choruses I couldn't (still can't during some) understand.
Some of the time, I find that I just have problems understand words lately. I have amazing hearing (I can *literally* hear dog whistles. It's awful. Also EMF hearing.) but sometimes when people talk I just can't understand them. It's like speaking-dyslexia!

I used to think Al was saying " Last year I threw up in an airplane next to Christian Slater".

Re: Misheard Lyrics
In Phony Calls, before I finally read that he says "Moe's Tavern, where the elite meet to drink" which makes so much sense, I thought he was saying "Moe's Tavern, where do your leaf beat the tree?" which makes no sense at all. But, maybe it could.
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electric guitars!!

Re: Misheard Lyrics
It's a take off from an old radio show called Duffys Tavern. They would always answer the phone "Duffys Tavern where the elite meet to eat" Also if you ever have time, listen to some of this shows, they were hilarious and actually a big inspiration for Cheers as well
