Hey fans! Come on gather!!!

Post by Seva »

HI EVERYBODY!!!

Yes, that's me, Seva - the ultimate Weird Al Yankovic's Russian fan. I don't have much time to tell you my own Al story (well, I'd love to, so come and check my topic at the General Chat section), so I must shout it out loud -

HEEEEYYYYYYY!!! EUROPEAN FAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNSS!!! COME ON, WHERE ARE YOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUU?!

According to WHiZZi, there's a lot of European fans on the forum, but I didn't see any! Come on, don't be so shy, we all can gather in Al's concert!!! :onfire: But it would happen only if we'll discuss some problems and ideas here. So - it's up to you, folks!

your a comedy genius, really! :satisfied:
Where have you been, Martyn?!?! What took you so long?!
well, i never noticed this part of the forum i should try being more observant :sleepy:
Anyway, now I wanna hear your Weird Al story! (how did you become his fan, what albums do you have, which is your favorite song or video, plus general information about yourself ). And what do you think about visiting his concert???!
ok, it all started when i was erm..15 i think my mum had run off with another man ( i'm not making this up!) and i was flunking most of my coursework and exams so life wasn't going well so i'd heard of al and decided to check him on the net to cheer me up!. not much came of it though... :(

a year later i'd decided to buy myself a CD and then i spotted Running With Scissors. i was surprised i thought Al only had releases in the US so i immediately bought it ( i even bought a CD player just for it!) and so i got into him more! i then bought Bad Hair Day ( that and running with scissors where the only UK versions i could find! and that's my Al story. beautiful isn't it??

i have:
Running With Scissors (UK version)
Bad Hair Day (UK Version, i think)
Alapalooza (import)
Off the Deep End (import)
Permanent Record: Al in a box (import)
i'd like to own VHS of his stuff in my video region but,as you can guess, they're pretty scarce! (that or non-existant)

which is your favorite song or video

erm.. that varies but my favourites are Amish Paradise ( an excellent parody of one of my favourite songs), It's All About The Pentiums, Eat it, Pretty Fly For A Rabbi and i'm sure there are some others that i can't think at the moment...

video-wise, i use internet obviously to see his videos so erm.. i like the videos of It's All About The Pentiums, Amish Paridise and Smells Like Nirvana ( the best of them all, Pure genius!)

i hope to go to one of Al's but not this year at the moment because my scheduele is pretty complicated at May/ June time and i'm skint. But one day... when you least expect it...

I WILL!!!!

now me... i'm Martyn (NEVER MARTIN!!, i don't like when people spell it with an 'I' and when people pronounce it 'Mar-tin', i like it pronounced

'Mart-n') i'm 17 and i was born on 20 th July 1985 in Cambridge ( you know the place with that 'world-famous' university) i don't live there but hey...

erm... i'm desparate for stuff now...

I like...

1. Marmite

2. Al (sarcasticcally- well, duh!)

3. Anything i guess...

I hate...

1. Drinkers

2. Euro-pop- T.A.T.U, i know how much you LOVE them, Seva (i'm kidding again :P)

3. erm..

ah well... i'll for your next message....

Me again!!!

Hi Martyn-never-Martin, my one and only European Al kinda friend!!!

Thank you for the last message, it was really funny and made me more happy than I usually am!!! :P

You wrote many, many interesting things that I'd like to quote, the thing is that I just don't know how to do it, well, you know, those white lines in which your quote used to be, so I'll do it in my way, if you don't mind.

YOU WROTE:

"you're a comedy genius, really"

Tha-a-anks! :tellme: This is really important for me 'cause I'm spending now my college days taking parts in various comedy contests (with my friends - our University's comedy troupe), playing accordion and singing funny songs!!! (if you wanna hear my accordion story - just say it!) And - you're a smart cookie too :satisfied:

THEN YOU WROTE:

"... and that's my Al story. Beautiful, isn't it??"

Excellent!!! The best Al story I've ever heard  . And I just feel your sadness of non-existant Al stuff, but... let me say you're more lucky than myself.

LATER YOU WROTE:

"I hate Euro-pop - T.A.T.U., I know how much you LOVE them, Seva!"

A-ha, so you've read my posts in a couple of topics. Yeah, let me say I... umm... dislike them. I would say this even if you'll show me a gun in front of my face. It's OK about the girls, but... I actually don't like the idea when people shouting: "We're gays! We're lesbians!"or "We're psychic porn star midgets and we're all nude!!!" in front of millions people and thousands of cameras, annoying their friends and destroying their lives... Oh well.

And you just cannot imagine how I would be happy if Al destroyed them!!!

Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaaa!!! :onfire: And maybe that would help Russian people to learn some more about Weird Al!!!

AND FINALLY YOU WROTE:

"I hate drinkers!!!"

Well, erm... depends on what do you mean. I hate drinkers too, especially those overdrunk always-so-smart students in beer pubs, yuck!!!!!!!!!! But they don't know I can drink far more than themselves. :sly: , but, thank God, it happens not often. You know, if you are Russian, you just cannot not to drink, but I do not drink as often as I can. (hope I got that right...)

And now - generAL information about myself!!!

I was born on 18th September 1981 in St. Petersburg, Russia. See, I'm a little bit older than you, but those little age differences are nothing if you're an Al fan. I'm studying at the St' Petersburg state University, philologicAL faculty, Czech department. My parents are famous Russian journalists and they both host their own TV shows. I have a long-time appreciation for comedies, and if you ask about my influences, I would name (those whom you might know) Al Yankovic, then Mel Brooks, various American and European movies and yes, your English all-time-favourite Monty Python :onfire: .

Can't wait for new messages from you!!!!!!!

Sincerely yours,

SEVA.

P.S. BTW, in a "breakthrough" topic WHiZZi wrote that he loves us all, and you wrote: "aww, whatever makes you happy". Whoa, that made so very, very happy, oh yeah 8) ...

Mmm. You know, I'm European too you know :P

Anyway, if you like to know how I became fan, just read on. If not, uhm... well, ... :satisfied:

My first contact with Al's music was when I downloaded a song from him  . It stayed a while on my HDD without listening closely to it. Until a Weird moment I download (again  a videoclip of the guy (thank god for ADSL :P ). It was Fat (the song). I really (and I mean really) liked it and immediatly downloaded every song and videoclip I could find (to be honest, I have every song ever released on MP3 and as MPG, but I have the CD's and DVD's original too). I really started to like Weird Al and just about that time, my girlfriend cheated on me (slept with another guy and could be pregnant of that guy). I listened to 'You don't love me anymore', 'One more minute','Good enough for now' and it cheered me up.

After a couple of weeks after the breakup, I mailed the webmaster of Weirdal.com because in my humble opinion the site wasn't pretty  , and so began the contact with Bermuda. I gave him several tips and created this forum.

So, in a way, my former girlfriend made me Weird Al-fan :sleepy:

(and Seva, I'm dating another girl so don't worry ;) )

Umm... sorry, but I didn't get what do you mean. Maybe you'll bring it more clear with your next message. :lookround:

But anyway, that's what I call Weird Al story... You know, we Russians have an excellent proverb about it. I don't know its English equivalent, but in Russian it is "vsyo, shto ni dyelayetsa, vsyo k loochshemoo", which means something like "whatever you're doing, it will bring the best results." See, it's a pity what your former girl did this messy thing to you, but hey - if you had a choice between moderating this wonderful forum and dating with such a... unpleasant girl, what would you prefer, huh? :)

And the second thing is... maybe you could find more European fans???

Can't wait,

Hope you don't mind if I crash your Euro-party... :P

I just had to ask Mart'n: Your copy of RWS and BHD are UK versions, do you know if they are different from ours? Does your RWS have the SHHHHH, SECRET FILE! on it? Are the covers the same?

if you are Russian, you just cannot not to drink, but I do not drink as often as I can. (hope I got that right...)

You got it right. :lookround: At least I understood what you meant. You are a funny guy!

Hey Whizzi, I hope your present girlfriend likes Al.
