I dedicate the translation of TMZ to Mr. Gérard Depardieu, who has shown up in teh news recently for such an act that would have made it into TMZ easily.
"So I went in my garaage, got in my care
And I drived, talking with my blue teeth
My boyfreind told me don't cree
Come to my houss, don't worraye,
we'll talk about this togeedurr."

I know you people don`t really like what this guy is doing, mainly since it`s French most of the time, but his latest album came out last Monday, and this song was on it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmOWejvd ... re=related
There`s only one sentence fully in French, it`s in the first part, and it`s "we`re gonna keep it".
Anyway, the song is about a singer who deeply wants to sing in English so she can sell much, much more; but her English is absolutely awful, and the whole song is about her singing about the troubles her Bad English gives her. All this while making us realize exactly why it`s so bad. Just listen to how some words are said.

Back to the official subject of this topic, I have thought recently about doing a translation of Trapped in the Drive-Thru. It might take me some time, but I expect it to be done... someday. Let`s just say I found out some portions were easier to translate.

I don't speak French, but my Spanish at least lets me get a little bit of the sense of the lines, and I can see you've done a great job with the rhymes. What I was wondering is, are the syllable counts close enough that your versions can be sung? This is really an impressive body of work. :)

Yes, most of the time I`m trying to have the rythm and syllable count fit the original`s. That`s partly why some lines have to be changed a little; no translation can be exactly the same as the original. The Disney songs are a good proof of it.
I make sure the song works by singing my version atop the original once I`m done writing it. The funniest is that sometimes, I surprise myself singing my lyrics without even noticing.

I know a little bit of French (though not enough to be bilingual), so tried singing some of the Al songs tonight... what fun! Great job, Iama. :)

I hope Al comes to Quebec next year... I know it won't happen, but it's still fun to dream about. People would go absolutely nuts if he sang a verse (or even a line, or a select word in a select spot) en français!

He does: "Excusez-moi, qui a pété?"
And he does a few on Genius in France too.
I think Al came to Montreal some months ago, for Just For Laughs... but a real show would be just awesome.

How`s Trapped in the Drive-Thru by now? Well, I didn`t start translating it. University semester works are first in line. But I`m listening to it a couple times to get a good deal of translated lines.

Gosh, I just realized I never posted Germs! One of my best translations and I totally forgot about it! Shame on me. (You'll see it tomorrow.)

Here it is. Shame on me again for forgetting... (plus my computer is acting sorta crazy so I'm mad at it. Ever yelled all your chords at a machine? Well, that's what I did. I had the first verses written and it bugged crazy!)

GERMES

(Germes) Je sais qu'ils me regardent
(Germes) Sans arrêt, ils me voient
(Germes) Ils en ont après moi
(Germes, bac-que-téries microscopiques)
Que quelqu'un vienne m'aider! (Germes, bac-que-téries microscopiques)
Vite, venez tous m'aider! (Germes, bac-que-téries microscopiques)
Faut m'croire, vous l'devez! (Germes, bac-que-téries microscopiques)
Ils veulent me piéger (Germes, bac-que-téries microscopiques)
Ils veulent me contrôler! (Germes, bac-que-téries microscopiques)
Ils veulent m'éliminer! (Germes, bac-que-téries microscopiques)
Ils veulent me tuer!

One of my best translations of all my uncareer. Gotta say it sort of made me a little hypochondriacal. (Lots of points on a Scrabble board)
