Early Release

Postby Bruce the Duck » Thu Jun 19, 2014 6:20 pm

On many albums, places like Amazon or iTunes allow you to listen to previews even before the albums come out. In some cases, the album is availble for full streaming before it is available to buy. How much of this is controlled by the record company vs the artist? In other words, does Al have a say in whether his album is made available for early previewing?

I don't know for sure, but the label is in the business of selling music, so I'd guess they get to do whatever they feel will accomplish that in the best way. If there was something that Al strongly disagreed with, that would be a factor, but he also wants to sell music, so he would normally defer to them.
