GREAT NEWS!!!

I have some super exciting news to share -- as of today, Weird Al Star Fund has raised the full $15,000 we were hoping to raise by this year's deadline!!! :whoot: :whoot: :whoot:

In the past three days, you helped raise over $2,000!! In the past month alone, you helped raise almost $5,000!!! Let that sink in for a minute.

Al's fans really pulled together at the end to make sure it got done. You should all be super proud of yourselves. I personally can not thank everyone enough who donated, and all the super fans who stepped up and went beyond the call of duty throughout the campaign.

The application is now on its way to Hollywood, so at this point it's out of our hands and the waiting game begins. It's up to the committee at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to review the nominations they received and select which ones will be accepted for the class of 2007. They should make an announcement sometime this June. You can keep an eye on their website for the announcement. And of course we'll have all the latest breaking news at www.weirdalstar.com

In my opinion, the hardest part is over. Al's accomplishments really are impressive and they will speak for themself in front of the committee. In many ways, Al is the perfect candidate for a star. Let's hope the committee sees it that way too.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced the 2007 nominees today, and unfortunately Al's name wasn't on the list. :(

I am disappointed that the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce overlooked Al's accomplishments this year. There is no doubt in my mind that Al deserves a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame. Anyone who will take a moment to get to know Al as a person and as a musician will see that. The impact he made on music for the past three decades is clearly remarkable.

Al did have some tough competition in his category, and it is hard to argue that the musicians selected don't deserve a star as well. So I extend my sincerest congratulations to everyone who was selected this year.

As for the Weird Al Star Fund, Al's application automatically carries over to next year. Before next year's meeting, we'll be given an opportunity to update the application for Al's 2006 projects. Hopefully next year at this time I'll have happier news to share with everyone.

The complete list of 2007 Walk of Fame recipients, as ratified by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce board of directors is as follows:

— Recording: Sean "Diddy" Combs, Mariah Carey, The Doors, Crystal Gayle, Tim McGraw, LeAnn Rimes, Shania Twain.

— Motion pictures: Michael Caine, Matt Damon, Lauren Shuler Donner, Jamie Foxx, John Goodman, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert Altman.

— Television: Barbara Walters, Erik Estrada, Kiefer Sutherland, Jerry Stiller, Dick Wolff.

— Live theater/performance: Sir Tim Rice, Lily Tomlin.

— Radio: Rodney Bingenheimer, Stu Nahan.

July is a wonderful time to donate to the Weird Al Star Fund, the campaign to get “Weird Al” Yankovic a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

Why? Because for the entire month, your donations count double!!

The John D. and Catherine T. McHamster Foundation will donate $1 for every $1 donated to the Weird Al Star Fund from July 1, 2007 until July 31, 2007, up to $1350. making a total of up to $2700!

If you’re thinking of donating again, or for the first time, take advantage of this opportunity to make your donation go farther! Please share this information with anyone who might be interested. And as always, all contributions are appreciated!

American Gladiators challenge Weird Al Star Fund! :wsd:

The American Gladiators have challenged the Weird Al Star Fund! And it’s a challenge we’re more than happy to take on! American Gladiators is prepared to make a donation of ten dollars per person for every person we bring to their audience! The show tapes at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, CA. If you are from the Los Angeles area, we need YOU to convince your parents, siblings, friends, teachers, distant cousins… whoever. As long as they can fill up a seat, American Gladiators will count them toward the donation for the Star Fund!

The date is Saturday, December 8, 2007. You will be meeting at the studio at 8:15 a.m., assembling with the rest of the Star Fund people long enough for an audience worker to get a headcount, and then enjoying the show for a few hours. A snack will be provided, but it won’t be a full meal so plan accordingly. The show is not violent, but there is a minimum age requirement of nine years old. To sign up, or for more specifics, please contact the Star Fund’s treasurer, Vikki DeVries at [email protected] (or send a PM to like_im_27again)

The Star Fund wants to thanks Jon “TMBJon” Katz for coming up with this fun challenge. If you would like to attend a taping of American Gladiators on a different date, or if you have any additional questions, feel free to email him directly at [email protected]. If you have any ideas for other fundraising events, please let us know at www.WeirdAlStar.com

UPDATE #3

Here is more information for the December 8 American Gladiators event:

Sony Pictures Studios is located on Overland Ave between Culver and Washington (can't miss it). Drive through the front gate and pull into the parking garage on the right. Then you will go down to the floor level of the garage where there will be an audience holding area. Please check in with Vikki so that she knows the whole group has arrived.

Sorry--yet another time change:
Arrive at 10:00 AM and the taping will begin at 11:00. We will be finished at 5:00 PM. There is another taping immediately following that you are welcome to stay for.

Wear darker clothing, or at least with no bright logos, etc. that will show. No cameras or cell phones--they will send you back to the car with them, so best not to bring them in.

And finally, with the holidays in full swing, give the gift of Weird Al Star Fund merchandise to your favorite Al fan this season. Now through December 9, use the coupon code CAMPERSLOGAN at checkout for a $5 Off $50+ coupon. We also have other great homemade merchandise at www.weirdalstar.com
