I won't be able to make this one, as college starts back on the 27th. But, figured I would post this for those that are interested.

I have decided to get tickets tomorrow through the venue instead of PAID's presale today. This is mostly because I believe PAID unfairly raises the ticket prices due to calling them "premium" when in fact the seats are the same as those you'd pay normal prices for. I also do not like not knowing where I will be sitting until the last minute.

On a more positive note, I am happy to report that I will be attending this show with my entire A\V Department as an unofficial staff retreat. All of my employees are Weird Al fans so this will be a fun excursion.

But Jon.. This venue is GA as I recall. Getting the premium tix lets you in early so you can get the seat you want.. At least thats how it was before

All the more reason why it's not worth spending an extra $20 - $40 on "VIP" or "Premium" tickets. I recall non PAID ticketholders sitting right next to me last time at this venue.

Actually, only the $125 tickets give you "early access" to the pit section. The $65 tickets are literally no different than the $55 tickets I will be buying tomorrow morning.

OH!.. Well that's different from last time? bummer:( As all the $55 tickets are most likely the same. I'm wondering how they will know the VIP package tix from the Premium?

Back in 2010, I purchased the $55 "VIP" GA tickets directly from the venue one week before the show and ended up with great seats. We did not get in line outside the venue very early; the line was around the block when we got there. We were still maybe 10 rows back from the stage, in the center section. The VIP section of the venue was the seats in the front of the theatre, from the stage all the way back to the soundboard. Everything behind that, plus the balcony, was regular GA. Even the back row of the VIP section would have been fine with me, as long as we could sit!

I strongly suggest that you call the venue to confirm what the seating set-up will be like for Al's show, and be specific regarding which sections are VIP seats and which are not.

Since I was traveling from NH, I called the venue when I bought the tickets and verified where the VIP sections were. Once I got inside the venue, the security guards were misinformed about which sections were VIP, and they were turning people away. :annoyed:

I stood my ground, and told my family to sit there and "don't get up." I found someone who knew the right info, and he came out to tell the security guards the correct sections for VIP. The guard who had argued with me came up to me and apologized. I could have sat in the pit section of the theatre with my VIP tickets, but there weren't 3 seats together in that area by the time I got there. We ended up only 2 rows behind the pit section. :D

If the security guards had not been misinformed, they wouldn't have turned the people ahead of me away from the VIP section. I would have ended up farther back in the VIP section, but those seats still would have been good.
