This is an article about comedy called "There’s art in the funny too." What do you think of the points made about Al here?

Well, Al's not a person of pretentions, but I don't think he's as reluctant to pull back the curtain as the author says. He does sometimes go into a bit of detail. But it is absolutely true that the comic side of of any artistic discipline doesn't get the respect of what Al calls the "unfunny" end of the spectrum.

Well, Al certainly does a thorough job of explaining things on DVD commentaries. As for the example provided in that article, what's that old expression? Talking about music is like dancing about architecture? When he gives a less complete answer than the interviewer is expecting or makes a joke, I tend to think that means he's not particularly interested in answering the question and would rather just have fun. Maybe it feels like dancing about architecture for him. Though come to think of it, Al would probably much rather dance about architecture than be an architect. :D

Hmm, I wonder if the Architecture Dance looks anything like the Boneless Boy dance?

I would totally watch the Architecture Dance. One reason Al may have riffed on the guy's questions is that he was asking for NUMBERS.... numbers Al probably didn't have at the tip of his tongue. So rather than give a wrong answer, he sidestepped.

Well, either way, props to the writer for referring to a portion of an interview about "Hardware Store" to illustrate his point.

Al is on an esteemed list----one of the 20 whitest musicians of all time!

Um, after reading part of the description for the #1 whitest musician, Kenny G, I don't think it's a compliment to be on this list.

What do we mean when we say an act is "the whitest?" We mean musicians without any
flavor at all, the musical equivalent of a mashed potato sandwich with mayonnaise on
white bread. We mean a total lack of influences from R&B, jazz, soul and blues.

At least Al is in the bottom 5.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?"

So awesome!

Al Team #325

Seeing as Al is only one space removed from Pink Floyd, I think I'm alright with him making this list.
