Many happy memories.10. The success of the auction. I really did want the WOO!, but it was out of my grasp early on. I think over $10,000 was raised and that's pretty awesome.
9. The fine, talented acts who did the lip sync and the Gong Show. Fred outdid herself and twisted her ankle in the process. Kevin looks so much like Al it's scary. And, even though she wasn't a winner, I thoroughly enjoyed Angela's performance of Young, Dumb and Ugly.
8. Marty's Trivia Game. I qualified for this but was not among the final 3 selected -- my brain was the wrong colorJust as well, with Elvis and UHJeff up there who know all the most esoteric things, the best I could hope for would have been a resepctable 3rd. It was beautifully produced and the ads were a hoot, so big props to Marty and Steve.
7. Dancing at the Demented Ball. It was really great (and a very rare privelege) to be able to dance in an alcohol-free setting to music I actually like. Thanks to Jeff for the great DJing and to PS for the last dance.
6. The musical acts. Most notably Throwing Toasters, Larry Weaver, Tony Goldmark and Lukeski. I liked them all before, but I like them better now. Larry and Grant are especially swell guys. Penguin on the Telly and the Subterranian Homesick Blues/Star Wars thing were especially inspired numbers.
5. Bermuda and Al's video presentations. The funniest part of the Con. Al doing a cover of Close To You in Albuquerque was worth the price of admission alone -- I love surrealism. The UHF DVD looks pretty unbelievable so far. The best deleted scene I saw -- George and Teri's "romantic scene." Pity they didn't keep this one in the original.
4. Seeing many of the people I know from various Internet Al forums. It's always great to get together, finally put names and faces together and actually get some quality socializing time. I hope to see many of you again in Orange County.
3. Meeting Suzanne. A sweet and gracious lady, and Al's a lucky guy to have her in his life. She was so cool about all those strange women sitting on her husband's lap for the better part of the evening. She's obviously secure in the knowledge that at the end of the day, he's all hers.
2. The seemingly tireless work of Amanda and her volunteers. I have only the highest praise for all their effort. I had a most enjoyable weekend and it's mainly because of all their hard work. THANK YOU! Special congrats to Diva et al for a most successful Comic Relief table -$1004 YAY! Well Done!
1. Autographs, photo ops and warm hugs from Al and Bermuda. Ah sweet memories.
