Go figure, Al comes to my hometown. They spent so many years and so much money rebuilding that stupid place, it's nice to see them finally bring a decent act down. I hear the place is really nice now, as long as you can dodge the hobos and crack dealers downtown, it should be an entertaining show. Anyone else going?

it's funny how it's impossible to discuss Waterbury without using words that would probably get censored on this forum. I hope this show drags in the usual CT crowd (Connecticut crowds are ALWAYS the best at Weird Al shows), but being on a Wednesday night is going to be tough for me. Put me down for a maybe.

Pre-Sale tickets are up now....at 54 dollars a pop

I love Al and all, but that's nuts. I didn't even pay that much for The Police.

Great, now normal priced tickets are on sale, and the 24 dollar seats are about as far away from the stage as possible. I guess the 34 dollar seats are ok, but these prices are really rediculous. I pay only pay 30 dollars for wrestling tickets, and I get front row on the first non-floor sections. Why the heck are these tickets so expensive, and the seats so crummy? Does Al dictate prices, or is it more at the whim of the promoter, because this is nuts >:S

Ultimately, I believe it's the venue/promoter that sets the price, but once you boil it down, it's highly influenced by Al . It's the old "blame the oil company, not the gas station attendant" argument. Al's costs have gone up (new equipment, higher fees for bus rentals due to higher fees for gasoline, cost of traveling, cost of living, etc.) so in order for him just to break even, he's gotta charge more.

And that means venues/promoters now have to pay more for him, so they have to raise their prices. And their costs to put on a show probably have gone up too (cost to heat/cool the building which uses gas or oil, employee wages, cost of living, etc.)

So yeah, it sucks for us. :(

So, the show is tomorrow, am I really the only one that will be attending? I'd love to be able to meet Al and the Band after the show, but the Palace Theater is in a really sketchy neighborhood in what is already a really sketchy city so I highly doubt they'll be sticking around for long.

Trust me, in Waterbury, CT, the scene is more likely to look like the Spinal Tap concert on The Simpsons or Woodstock '99 then anything else.

Dave and I will be there....and I used to work in Waterbury, so I am mentally prepared.

Al's played Camden NJ, I can't imagine Waterbury is much worse than that....

I'm going. Waterbury is pretty dull, but it's not as bad as other CT cities. Bridgeport is in the top 10 for homicides per capita in the US.

-Note: I check this forum every day and set up an account about a year ago. However, I'm technologically paranoid, and so this is my very first post.
