How lovely...:) It was just like this for me 10 years ago when I first made it over to the USA from UK to see Al on the last leg of the Straight Outta Lynwood Tour. Isn't he great? ! :) There are quite a few of us that have traveled long distances to see him and I'm sure he always appreciates it :) Great for you to fall in with all that East Coast crew , Dave and Jackie etc .. Great bunch of people :)

CB Johnny wrote:The setlists have said "Dare To Be Stupid" and "Dare To Be Stupid (Unplugged)" but Elvis coined "Grateful Dead Version" and it stuck.

Al calls it Dare To Be Stupid and said if we need to categorize it then he suggests "(Unplugged)
So, in your defense, I wouldn't call it a declaration either.

Makes sense to me.
Al did Eat It in the style of Eric Clapton but do we call it the Eric Clapton Version?

But, with respect, my fellow fan, no: Al doesn't "need" to do anything. ;)
Have you been to any of the shows this tour? Al introduces the song as being a deep cut from Grateful Dead's American Beauty album. So yeah, if he wants us to not call it a Grateful Dead version of the song, perhaps HE should stop calling it that first?

Als introduction is a joke. If he specifically said he would like it to be called the unplugged version, we should respect that

I don't think he necessarily introduces it the same at each show either. I was stoned but I don't remember him saying anything like that before they did it the last time I saw them. Having said that, he could have.

That video made me a little tearey eyed. I now know to try to get last in line instead of close to the front like i usually do. I got a hug and autograph years ago when he came to Cincinnatifor his book tour and the place was filled wall to wall just for him and i was so nervous i could barely speak and they were rushing everyone which made it harder

And the fact that when it was my turn to go to him i dropped my camera sending batteis flying out which got me frustrated but luckily my friend had her camera.

I am so freaking excited to see him next monday!! Driving alone from Cincy just for him

Oh Margarita! I"m so delighted to see your meet up with Al. I'm so happy for you!!!

Wow! I thought Al was a good guy, but it makes me extra happy that he knew who you were. You went to such great lengths to see him and it makes me cry that he took the time to know who you are. You deserve it!

Oh, thank you, guys, for such kind words!
I'm back home now and Mike's video makes me cry a little bit, too ;( I'm looking forward to come and see Al again next year, and also to improve my speaking skills by that time.
Also, the funny thing is that I really thought that if I wouln't be able to say a thing to Al while meeting him, I would just ask for a hug, and that's it, but in reality it turned out that I was speechless AFTER Al gave me the hug  His hugs are perfect, though. Best hugs ever, like, you can feel that he's not just standing there with his hands around you thinking about something else, but really means that hug.

Everyone, have fun doing Meet&Greet! :)

Doubt it will be as fun as yours BUT we will try! :)

My daughter keeps asking me who do I think will be the most shy when we meet him. I think her. She thinks me. She is 8 so I know more and am always right.
