Yeah, there are a lot of "fun" pop acts that I would definitely recommend to an Al fan. Foo Fighters are one, Weezer, BNL, etc.

No one's mentioned my second favorite comedy-music act, Melbourne (Australia) comedy-music duo Scared Weird Little Guys. The Scardies (as they often call themselves) are two dudes, John and Rusty, from Melbourne whose act went from general comedy to musical comedy and although I'm crazy about their CD "Scared," I think they hit their peak with their live CD, "Live at 42 Walnut Crescent," which features, among other things, a song where they sing the phone book (sounds boring; it's hilarious), a parody of the Macarena, and a cover version of Prince's song "Kiss" done in every imaginable musical style (rap, reggae, country, etc.) Bet they didn't get permission for that one! Anyway, I highly recommend their CDs if you can get 'em...they're sometimes hard to find outside of Australia.

I'd give my left arm to see these guys open for Al. And I agree with buying the Dr. Demento collections; there's certainly some must-have stuff on those, but the Demento Society Basement Tapes CDs are even better, and the only way to get those is to be a member of the Demento Society (well worth it; I've been a member since the beginning, 12 years ago), so I'd recommend going to His Official Site and joining right away if you're not already a member.

And the Scared Weird Little Guys' site is here if you want to get a look at them, but sorry, they're not studly hot fellows like our Al.

Praise Al!!

i would suggest the song Black Denim Trousers and Motorcycle boots by Vaughn Monroe(?), the Purple People Eater by Sheb Wooley, and (my favorite song of all time) Chantilly Lace, by the Big Bopper. A lot of people don't find Black Denim Trousers and Motorcycle Boots funny, but i think it is. anyway, there you go, some fifties fun for everyone!

Allow me to put in a plug for my boys, The Dead Elvi. Yes, they dress up as Elvis, had he died at various points in is life, and, yes, one looks more like Dead Jerry Garcia, but they're a lot of fun. Gotta love any band that can play a ripping electric version of "Swan Lake," and that writes original tunes such as "John Agar Rules."

Fans of the Dead Elvi

They're great musicians, too, and have played with Ray Manzarek of The Doors as well as former Rolling Stone Mick Taylor.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Bill Mumy (not only of "Lost in Space," but of Barnes and Barnes) perform "Fish Heads" with them -- twice!

I did not know that!

Hey, Bill Mumy is one of the few people on the planet with a Dead Elvi baseball cap custom-embroidered by me. And, at their last show, he played two Beatles tunes. I was flattered because I was the one who asked for Beatles, so they added them to the set!

For those who are wondering -- "One After 909" and "You Can't Do That."

I like They Might Be Giants, who many have already mentioned, let me think, besides them...

Primus. Though these guys are split up now, all their old stuff is still available. I think they are the most talented musicians on the planet. Sometimes, their lyrics don't exactly crack you up, but the MUSIC is so well-done that you could listen to one of their instrumentals and still not be able to stop laughing. They wrote the South Park theme song that plays at the beginning of the show, and that guy that sings it is a drawing of Les Claypool, the lead singer of the band.

Our Lady Peace isn't a comedy band, but they make me laugh sometimes. They have one song about their singer seeing a homeless man skipping over the cracks in the sidewalk so he won't break his mother's back, and then he gets mad because that guy has nothing, yet is happy and playing games, and he's a famous musician with plenty of money and food, and he's NOT happy. Really funny.

(Wow, my avatar is still my tuxedoed dog from the WOWAY awards. How long have I been gone?)

There is this cool band called "Stacked Ham". They do parodies, and origonal stuff too, put they are hillarious. They did a parody of "I'm Proud To Be An American" and they were talking about Reality TV shows,

...And I'm Sick Of Watching American's
Who aren't acting on TV... It was hillarious.
