I think you meant it can't be bigger than you, Kristine? Accordions only come in sizes between 19 and a half inches to 15 inches... So that's sorta impossible for it to bigger than you.

Oh... Well, accordions usually weigh from (I think) 29 pounds to 15... I have a two register accordion *which means I can choose between 1 reed or 2 reeds per note) and it weighs about 20 pounds... I can lift it without struggling... Btw, knowing how to play piano's good cause you know how to play the main part of the accordion. The treble notes... The bass buttons shouldn't be hard since it's bass then chord over and over...

And if you're familiar with the circle of fifths, you won't need to memorize the buttons on the bass side.
As with any instrument, there are lots of little tricks to learning the accordion, but NOTHING compares to hours and hours of practice. I've been playing for close to ten years, and practice is still very important.

Yeah, I know it's July, but still... the accordion gets some love

I love the bit where the number that brings the house down is "Bohemian Rhapsody." That Weird Al... always ahead of the trend. :Y
"Weird Al" has a charisma that's all his own. The awkward, the misshapen, the socially inept flock to his banner.

I thinking of trying to get/learn to play an accordion. Are they hard to learn how to play?

I now have two accordions, a 24 bass and a 120 bass which is huge. I also got a complete set of lesson books for free with the smaller accordion. They are really old, the print is typewriter style and quotation marks are used weirdly, like "piano accordion", "music" and "shoulder straps"....

That's great, Emily! Good luck woth the lesson books. Hubby would kill me if I even thought about buying an accordion. He hates Al, and he would know that was the reason.
4 words that Al said to me that blew me away:

"How's Problem Child doing?"

So awesome!
