I'm with Ryan on this.

Why should we care whether or not Al gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? It's completely meaningless, much in the same way the Grammys he's won are completely meaningless. They might be indicators of his accomplishments and such, but ultimately, it doesn't mean anything. In the grand scheme of things, Weird Al Yankovic is just a meaningless blip on the rapidly moving pop culture radar that will be forgotten. In fact, the idea that we would even continue to buy his albums or go to his concerts or even discuss him in any capacity is completely meaningless. It just doesn't matter one iota, because he, like every other single person who has ever done anything of any interest just doesn't matter, because it's insignificant. Will anyone remember him in a hundred years? Two hundred? No. So, it's a gigantic waste of time to dwell on something so stupid and pointless like this. In fact, why even bother having this forum exist? Why does Al NEED to be discussed in any capacity? What is the purpose? So his fans can communicate? I really don't get why a big deal is being made over crap as insignificant as this.

Al's Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Postby minnick27 » Wed Jun 27, 2012 12:15 pm

It certainly means something. People may not mean something in 100 years, or even 50, but im sure it would mean something to him if he got it. It would also mean something to the fans for helping him get it. If you don't like it, you could always just skip the topic, makes it easier to read the forum that way

Like any honor, it means something because people have deemed it to mean something

That's probably a greater question for something such as an Al forum, really.

I agree with Ryan and Chris. Earth does not matter, guys. We are just a small speck in the history of the universe. Nothing really matters. Anyone can see.

Hollywood is an absolute dump - especially where the walk of fame is located - so I wouldn't go there even if he was getting a star ceremony.

I was just there in Feb and first thing that happened was I got in an argument with some jerk trying to make me buy his rap cd. The 200 foot walk from the garage to the place where I ate food was enough to make me want to leave. So, that is exactly what I did. I didn't care who's star I missed, I didn't care about the theatre. I just wanted out of there. What they need to do is move the stars to a place that doesn't suck. Then maybe I'd go see this Al star if it ever happens.
