7/15/10 Tulsa, OK The Brady Theater

Post by Alinite27 »

Saw this venue just a few days ago when I was UHF site tour-chasing. I though, Hey!...it'd be great if Al would play here....Then, just a couple days later this show gets announced.

We have family in Tulsa, and it's really a very nice town...when they don't have construction. I'm hoping that most is cleared up when we go back in a couple months. For anyone going though, just keep in mind that the streets in Tulsa are tore up and there is construction everywhere. Hopefully that will be fixed by Summer, though...

Anyway, since we have family there...this would be a really nice concert if we could all make it to the show. This looked like a beautiful theatre, at least from it's designing on the outside.

I used to live in Tulsa about ten or so years ago... probably more, but my memory of the whole thing is pretty foggy right now. Great place.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to make this one.

I went to Al's concert at the Brady back 10 years ago on the RWS tour...

I sat up in the balcony...it was hard to see the screen at times...but it was an amazing time!

The other show in Tulsa was at the RIVERPARK AMPLITHEATER...I prefered the Brady.

At any rate...I am looking forward to this 10 year anniversary of my first Al concert...:)

Not completely happy with the tickets, definitely not happy with the ticket provider, of ProTix. Tried to buy tickets over the phone, but either got a busy signal or hung up on. However, bought tickets through the website, and got an aisle seat. We're also going with one of our family members that lives at Tulsa.

Got 3 Tickets, Seats 1-2-3, in Section D, Row C. They're pretty close to center, so it should be fine seating. Sucks that the only option, unless I wanted to pay $20 for FedEx, was WillCall. Although, that should work out fine, as well...hopefully...

I just bought my tickets!

Section E, Row F and Seats 3-4. I did Will Call. Even though we got stuck off to the side, I think it'll be a pretty good spot for the show.

Okay... taking the trip up to Tulsa in about a half and hour (hopefully). We used my mom's credit card to buy the tickets and since we went with will call we have to pick them up, but she's in the hospital recovering from a (successful) surgery. ProTix said the cardholder needed to pick up the tickets, but she'll be there from a little while. My dad is driving us there today instead, so we're trying to get things straightened out. I don't think we should have too much trouble getting the tickets, though.

... I'll be wearing a brown Hawaiian shirt with green palm trees lining the edges and jeans. haha

Have fun! And if you have some time to kill, you could always take the UHF filming locations tour!

haha, I wish they never took down the "Spatula City" billboard. That would be great to see.

Picked up tickets at Will-Call around 3:30. No line and very easy to get the tickets. Then, went to meet with our family, who mom and I were able to go to the show with tonight. Before the doors opened, we went to a nearby steakhouse and had a great dinner. Then, got to the venue around 6:30. Waited for the 7:00 doors, and made our way inside.

Had row C, which looked to be 6th row on the Seating Chart. However, because it was in the section next to Center, it was actually only 4th. It seemed that the ushers were having a really hard time with seating tonight, as some tickets were sold twice...and others not even at all. It was very weird. Row A in the Center section was not sold at all...not one seat. Anyway, the show began right on time...after the CD 1 Pre-Show music had played through.

Interesting show tonight. Al slipped up on a few words in the 2nd and 3rd song...which tonight was Frank's, Good Old Days. Also, someone mistakenly filled the cannons wrong. For Canadian Idiot, we got tons and tons of white confetti and for the end, we got red and white streamers...which mostly all of got stuck on the light fixture set-up. Really fun crowd tonight. Very into everything...and I could tell they really honored the fact that they were from where Al made UHF. Before Let Me Be Your Hog, Al took an informal poll and asked if there were any people here tonight who were not related to Hanson. He also said that in honor of being in the city where UHF was filmed, they would play the shortest song on the UHF Soundtrack. Had a really fun time with our family member. He really enjoyed the show...more so, than I think he thought that he would. After the show, he said that if he would have known Al's show was that good...he would have went any time he played here before. So, pretty cool, with being with someone close who's first concert it was.

After the show, waited out by the bus. Took around 1:30, but Al eventually came out, sat on the tour bus steps and signed. Unfortunately, Al's line maker this year...which I believe is the same guy that runs the sound...always starts the line from a weird place. Tonight, I was first in line at the bus door...but he started the line from behind the bus door...which I meant I was in the complete back of the line. Kinda frustrating, but...oh well. Got to talk to Al for awhile. Asked him about how he chooses the alternate songs and a few other things. Very nice meeting...and got a pretty cool picture, as well.

Overall, very fun night...really enjoyed the concert being in Tulsa. With the crowd, family, Al, and UHF...

Fantastic show. I'm ready for the next ones! We got in kinda late, we ended up off the side. Speakers obstructed our view of Ruben and the video screens, but it was still great. We got to the theater right on time, but couldn't find our seats until halfway into "Polkaface." Very energetic, great to watch. Al used his new drum cover; awesome!

Al did a pretty long pause after the quiet part of "Craigslist," which was followed by a rousing applause. Al asked a kid in the front row to sing "Yoda." Stayed after the show, bought a Craigslist shirt, 10 trading cards. By the bus, I bought Ruben's CD from him personally... apperently I got his second-to-last copy! Al signed my ticket stub, signed my three year-old sister's hands and shirt as well as a doctor's note from my mom (who bought tickets for us, but was unable to make it, because she's recovering from surgery, for those who didn't already see my post.) that said, "Get well soon, Itchy!" haha, my dad gives crazy nicknames. My dad talked to him about the surgery, and Al was very understanding and really good with the conversation... which ended up being a little longer than expected, but Al was great.

I'll also add that he was great with my little sister. haha. A "new Weird Al fan" indeed. :)
