Just about everyone here has seen him live! He is fantastic, just go back through old posts and you'll get an idea.

Heard he puts on a reasonably long show, which is pretty good. Saw one artist live and it was about 45 minutes. Kind of a rip off.
Now I just gotta get off work that day. My boss won't be happy. Need ten days off this summer.

Yeah, definitely puts on a great show. 2 and a half hours. I'd guess for this tour to expect some different classic stuff, since it's for the Essential Collection. Multi-media experience of the same. Costume changes. Al-TV, music videos, other clips in between songs. Some sort of interaction, unique sequences.
Could go on. But for short, you'll definitely enjoy it...and yes, it's much better than the 45 minute concerts where 4 bands tour together and they all split up time.

I saw Shania Twain and her opening act performed longer than her, we were out of there by 930 for an 800 show. As far as past experiences, Al did say this tour would be different so it may not have anything we are used to. But then again he could just be saying that.

I hate to sound like a 'fanboy', but I personally CAN'T be disappointed with this show, unless he up and cancels for some reason. Me personally, I've been a lifelong fan of Al's, but never got to see him live (not by choice, but most people I know HATE Al with a passion). Now, for this show, I got a buddy of mine and his girlfriend, both of whom like Al, to get tickets with me. She's seen him 3 times before, so for me, it's all new, with the exception of the live dvd. But from what I read, that's vastly edited from what a 'true' concert is for Al.minnick27 wrote:I saw Shania Twain and her opening act performed longer than her, we were out of there by 930 for an 800 show. I'm guessing there's a good chance for a lot of 'older' or 'classic' Al? His newest was Internet Leaks, and while I like those songs, his last physical cd was "Essential."

Yeah, I remember the border around the email I got a while back notifying me about Al going back on tour. The frame was themed after "the Essential," so I'll assume that's what he'll be going for this time around. (Maybe next year with a whole album he can focus on other stuff as well) But I think he'll still find a place for a couple of the originals and "Whatever You Like" somewhere in the set.
Either way, I wouldn't expect the concert itself to be drastically different, but perhaps just the overall set list. I'm sure Al will stick to his same concert formula, which is what keeps his live performances in good continuity.

His shows have always included a mix of old and new, so Id expect more of the sameHappyGilmore wrote:

I'm optimistic to the idea of him maybe doing one of the new tunes he recorded a couple months ago. I won't mind if he doesn't though.
Yeah, the last tour in itself was a major change in setlist compared to the live DVD. I think you will definatly have a new experience that's well worth it here. I will be traveling from Minnesota for this show, along with three other shows of his while I'm out there...it will be my 19th show of Als.

So, did anyone who ordered the VIP tickets receive them yet? I don't like the fact that they won't be sent till shortly before the concert. What if there's a problem?
