How many Weird Al concerts have you been to?

I know he's done them there for a while. He doesn't do the official meet and greets there (i.e. the people who have passes), but I think he does most of the unofficial ones on the steps of the bus. I'm not sure of the exact reason, but my guess is that it's a convenient place to do it, it's usually pretty easy to line people up near the buses, and it probably gives him more freedom to do unofficial meet and greets because he doesn't have to bother the venue.

It's always been done on the bus steps. Well, it usually is. Depending on the venue setup, it can be done at a variety of places. Backstage, a table set up near the bus, etc. Doing it at the bus, though, allows Al to go in the bus for awhile, relax and refresh before doing the meet. Then, just go to the steps do the meet. When he's done, he can just head back in as he's already there. So, it's the convenience factor.

I only noticed the steps on a regular basis last tour. Before that I've either seen him in a folding chair or standing. Standing is more convenient for photo taking, but I imagine sitting is more convenient for him signing.

As of currently, I've seen Al in concert 4 times. First show was at the Mann Center on July 19, 2003, and the last 3 were at the Keswick Theater on May 31, 2007 (while blowing off my senior prom--my first time meeting Al!), June 25, 2010 (when Al asked me to sing part of "Yoda"), and on May 20, 2011. Can't wait for the next show, whenever that may be!

At this rate, if I began tour-chasing back in 1984 and went to roughly the same amount of shows each time out every time Al came into my tri-state area, I'd have been to 33 shows by now. I've seen Al in 4 different states at 8 different venues, repeating 1 of them twice (Verizon Theatre - Grand Prairie, TX 7/16/10 & 9/22/11). 3 of the shows I've been to have had technical difficulties (11/5/10, 9/22/11 & 4/30/12 briefly), but none have resulted in emergency performances unless you count additional drum solos. I've bought merchandise at 7 different shows. I've met Al and Steve 2 times after concerts (Al: 7/15/10 & 7/17/10, Steve: 8/26/08 & 7/17/10). I've met Jim once (7/17/10) and Ruben twice (7/15/10 & 7/17/10). Bermuda is the only one I haven't met in person yet. I've seen Bob in concert once, Frank's 2000" TV 5 times, You Make Me 3 times, You Don't Love Me Anymore 3 times and Good Old Days once.
