When Running With Scissors was relased the fans tasted Al's true humor through the 11 minute song Albuquerque. The fans begged for more.

Now that Poodle Hat is out in stores and the fans have heard the similar song, Genius in France we begin to wonder if Genius in France was meant to be a sequal of Albuquerque.

Was Genius in France actually meant to be a sequel to Albuquerque or was it just Al wanting to continue the 2 CD "tradition" of ending his CDs with long songs? What do you think?

I think Al wanted to do a Frank Zappa style parody. He put it at the end because it was long.

Welcome aboard.

Well, this has sort of been discussed in a thread A LONG time ago. That is, sequels to older songs on Poodle Hat. I'd say it's NOT a sequel to "Albuquerque" since the content is completely dissimilar. However, if "Genius in France" is a sequel to anything, it is probably the over-looked gem, "That Boy Could Dance." While the musical styles are not a like at all, the songs seem like they're about the same guy.

Other songs on Poodle Hat which share thematic elements with older Al songs include:

"Couch Potato"/"Syndicated Inc."
"Trash Day"/"Livin' In The Fridge"
"Wanna B Ur Lovr"/"Such A Groovy Guy"
"Why Does This Always Happen To Me"/"Good Old Days"

Wanna B Ur Lovr has always struck me as a Melanie sequal if anything else. Ya i didnt think Genius in France was a sequal to Albuquerque...although a sequal to Albuquerque isn't a bad idea...

Couch Potato isn't anything like Syndicated Inc. I Can't Watch This would be my guess.

And I think Jerry Springer is a sequel to Talk Soup.

Why Does This Happen To Me strikes me for of a sequel to One Of Those Days rather than Good Old Days, if your speaking of the content of both songs.
