False alarm - new Tweet photo shows the true purpose of the costume.

I'll never hope again.

I think Al tends to do acts people actually care about. I wonder what it would be like if Al did a Van Halen style parody. See how that works, Brucey?

style parodies tend to be acts Al cares about. Al cares about TMBG, and without his fingertips Al couldnt play accordion, so he cares about them too. Theres 2 things he cares about.

I'd like a parody of at least one of those awesome songs by kid favorites like Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, High School Musical. Hmm, it seems I can only think of Disney ones right now. Wonder why.
Hey, Elvis made a topic inspired by one of my posts. I didn't even know he knew I existed.

How about not?

I think acts like Van Halen would fall into the category of Al doing a parody/style of a song from the past, but with a current topic like he did with craigslist.

I really can't see Al not doing a parody/style parody of Miley and the like. He did eBay for boy bands, Horoscope for ska, and now he has to do something for "Disney Pop".

Honestly, it seems like whenever that's brought up, it's instantly shot down, but I want to know what current artists people think are more deserving of having a parody.

A parody is likely for the "Disney pop" genre. Al would be foolish to not do one. But I highly doubt we'd get a style parody of one of those

If you notice, Al only does style parodies of artists that he himself likes and respects - TMBG, Dylan, Aerosmith, Zappa, Doors, B-52s, REM, etc. Parodies target whatever happens to be popular, but style parodies target the music that Al himself likes.

Not saying that Al doesn't respect the Disney artists, but I'm fairly sure that he doesn't listen to them in his spare time. That's probably why, despite my constant whining about Al not doing an original rap song, he still hasn't done one. While rap is ever-increasingly popular, and while several of his most popular parodies have been rap songs, I don't think Al listens to much rap on his own, and so we're unlikely to ever get a rap style parody.
