Old pictures of Al on a Youtube video

I saw on a video on youtube with one of his old songs, pictures seem to be a young Al recording at Cal Poly(?)

I've never seen these pictures before, I just figured I'd share them.

This is also a recording of Won't Eat Prunes Again that I hadn't heard before. It even includes a few new lines.

This is why I say the holy grail of Weird Al rarities would be a complete bootleg of one of his Coffeehouse shows. We know such a thing exists because of this recording as well as a few others (Beverly Hillbillies Miss You, The Elements).

But in whos possession is it in? Al would have something since The Elements was in the driven special. But would he have leaked this and the BH one? Highly doubtful. But, who goes to a coffehouse open mic and takes a tape recorder in 1980? One of the other performers maybe? Find out who they are we may be able to get it.

My first guess would be that Joel Miller or Joe Earley have this Coffeehouse recording in their posession. At this point in his career, they maybe two of the small handfull of people Al has performed with since it's from a couple of months before he famously met Bermuda. It is possible that Bermuda might also own the recording or just a copy especially since a very early clip of Al performing a pre-album version of Mr. Frump was featured on his Biography special. Also, I think I might have seen the photos of Al with a big grin and the one with Al and Joel at the end on his Biography, too.

I dont see Joel or Jon leaking them either. I don't really know much about Joe Earley, but being a lawyer he might not get into the business of releasing stuff without consent

It does sound like the likeliest candidate is somebody who was a performer or a friend of a performer at the coffeehouse (but not performing with Al). Who would have thought it was the goofy guy on accordion who would turn out to be world-famous?

Am I the only one who had never heard this particular recording of Won't Eat Prunes Again before this link was posted? If not, whoever uploaded this video might have some answers.

Id heard a version, but not this one. You can tell its not just Al on this, the bongos are heavy, the Jews Harp, and you can hear Joel singing along. And love the different lyrics. Im emailing this person. Although looking at the info, they got their info from dmdb, if it was a personal recording would it have that, or would it say where it was recorded?

I would't think they "leaked" them either, but since they were cleared to air on "Biography", somebody licensed this recording to them which makes a stronger case for Bermuda or Joe Earley being involved with getting Al's consent in this case.
