Yeah, highest-charting is not the same as best-selling. But it is interesting that when CD sales tank, Al moves up the rankings. New slogan: Weird Al Tanks Less!

This is the second recent article that said he wore his hair a certain way(IIRC) instead of noting the hair is naturally curly.

"The Night Santa Went Crazy" comes in at #12* on the list of Rolling Stone's Greatest Rock and Roll Christmas Songs!
Great pic from 2006 Lynwood Christmas Parade

*The picture is #13, but if you count from the second photo on, that's where the list starts.

They're wrong on their statement that it was a parody of "Black and Gold" by Soul Asylum, though some parts do sound pretty darn similar.

Yeah, I noticed that. I think more than one person has assumed that. Regardless, it's cool that Al made the list.

I did put in the comments that it was only similar to the Soul Asylum song and described it as a style parody, but its a pretty close thing. Today was the first time I ever even heard of that band tbh..

The beginning is actually inspired by Ozzy's "Mama, I'm Coming Home". The rest of the song is pretty damn original, minus the intro and outro that sound like Ozzy.
What a racket they're makin', Jack, they keep me up at night playin' their electic guitars!!

Yankomaniac, maybe it sounds like that song to you, but I've heard more often that "Black Gold" was the inspiration. I knew not of that song until I saw it mentioned several years ago on here in connection with TNSWC. Where did you get your info?
