Is AL-TV returning or did you find a nice interview? Just tell the folks here.

The new 2009 (yes, 2009) membership kit is out. No Al, but Basement Tapes #17 contains "Al's Band" if anyone still hasn't heard it and feels like shelling out $34.90. Hurry, better get it before the 2010 membership kit comes out in 2012.

I got a notice on facebook today that Dr. D is leaving "terrestrial" radio, and will be exclusively streaming on the internet. Sorry if this is posted elsewhere. Search and iPod don't play well together.

So, that's it. No more Dr. Demento on any radio station, anywhere. The end of an era.

Tom Petty wrote this song eight years ago, but only now is it truly accurate.

Well, not entirely. He's still releasing shows on his website (http://www.drdemento.com) for about $3 an episode. The only things that are changing now that the show is off radio is that 1) he can now play whatever song he wants uncensored and 2) a lot less people will have the opportunity to hear it because really, who wants to pay for internet radio?

It is an end to an era most certainly, but the Dr. Demento Show has been declining in popularity for more than a decade, so this isn't exactly surprising. It's sad to say but I'd guess that without the income he gets from radio stations, the show probably won't last longer than the rest of the year, but don't hold me to that, for all I know he could be making new shows for another 30 years.
And the winner of the Al-TV "One Night Stand" is.... nah.

Does anyone know if Dr. D is still selling his Basement Tapes CDs? I am missing #14 and #17 and I would hate to have to resort to eBay (I'd rather Barry got the money for himself).

You can still get them, just send an email. I skipped about a dozen years and was able to catch up. They are 10 bucks each

Yes, New shows are still being uploaded to drdemento.com every Friday @ midnight. Two archive shows from the past are also being added to the online archive every Sunday night You can request specific shows to be added to their archive. Just send them an email. Most of the shows with Al rarities have already been uploaded and can be streamed for $2 for low-fi quality or $4 for higher quality.

The Basement Tapes CD's series appears to be finished. The last one that was released was Volume 17. There hasn't been Any indication of the shows stopping or slowing down. I would think it will continue as long as Dr D enjoys making them, and there's an audience for it.
