Also, I deleted a big giant blank post (I forgot who posted it) but I guess it was a bitmap image. Two LARGE problems: first, a bitmap (.bmp) is a HUGE image and would rtake forever to download. Second, web browsers won't display bitmap images. You MUST use .jpg or .gif (or .png which is not widely used.)

C'mon, get web savvy!!

Okay, Index.htm is screwy (on my machine). But home.htm is just fine.

I'm not surprised... there is no index.htm!!

All you need to do is go to www.weirdal.com and you'll be fine - there is no need to use any other version of the address!

But you must have an idex.htm, index.html. or another index.* file for browsers to be redirected to!

Here's a little html lesson. A file named index.html will automatically display in the final directory of a url. That is, entering http://www.weirdal.com/ into a browser will, by default, show you the page at http://www.weirdal.com/index.html It's not necessary to have an index.htm, and there's no need to even list index.html as part of an address; it's sort of redundant. Also, there is no redirection at this time in weirdal.com, as the index.html and home.htm pages are the same.

But like I said, there's absolutely no reason to be concerned with any address other than www.weirdal.com!

Well, actually, I usually just go to http://www.weirdal.com/gallery.htm or http://www.weirdal.com/latenews.htm, because it's quicker than waiting for all the pics on the front page to load, and my library internet time is limited. Besides, the news and pics are what I drop in for, anyway, so it works for me! :D

What I meant was that there's no need to worry about index this or that when visiting the site, and the main index is the menu for the site. You're welcome to go straight to the gallery or news page, but you could also miss something on the menu that has nothing to do with either of those pages.

That's why I recommend everyone enter right at www.weirdal.com - so they can start from the beginning, which is how the site was designed. If you don't want to wait for the graphics (and granted, the menu is about the most image heavy page on the site) just wait for a moment or two, click "stop" on your browser, and the text links should be available to navigate.

That may be a brand new feature, yet my 6.0 doesn't seem to display them... or perhaps it's just that bitmaps are HUGE and take forever to load!!! Either way, stick with jpegs or gifs.

Nope, it's easy:

Web images need to load in a sensible manner. There is absolutely no need for a 1mb bitmap (assuming it will even display) when a 50k jpeg will look just as good and load 20 times faster!

And, don't look for pages that don't exist and don't invent them and then ask why they're not there!

Simple. Effective. Like weirdal.com
